Mark Hayes is one of eight of today’s top echelon of choral composers who contributed to this collection, which follows the successful format of the Hymns We Love series for piano. The composers were asked for a new setting of one of their favorite hymns, to be developed with the smaller church choir in mind, and limited to a two-part or SAB voicing format. Each composer included notes explaining why the particular hymn he or she contributed ranked among their favorites, and how that may have influenced the musical style that was chosen to use in this particular setting. The result is a musically satisfying and diverse array of moods and styles with a fresh feel and look.
