Written by Bob Burroughs and Mark Hayes, this lyrical through-composed anthem is based on the well-loved text from Psalm 51. Traditional in style and form, this anthem begins with a quiet, prayerful supplication, “Create in me a clean heart, O God.” Burroughs and Hayes have masterfully wed the music and text, creating dramatic, emotional peaks at times, in contrast to the quiet whisper of the more introspective passages.
