Mark Hayes has breathed new life into this old standard with an engaging jazz waltz feel, lush choral harmonies, creative countermelodies, and a sparkling orchestration. Melodies are traded back and forth between men and women and there is a “vocal jazz” section that will make any ensemble, show choir, or chorus shine. Although there are some divisi sections for the women, much of this arrangement features accessible unison and 2- or 3-part writing. The piano part is especially fun to play. It’s perfect for winter holiday concerts, and a sparkling accompaniment CD and full orchestration are available.
