This song is based on the word, Namasté, (pronounced Nah-mah-STAY) which comes from the classical and spiritual language Sanskrit. It means “The divine in me blesses and honors the divine in you.” As a point of spiritual practice, we try to see the divine image in everyone, especially people who are different from us or people we don’t like. Romans 12:10 tells us, “Love each other as brothers and sisters and honor others more than you do yourself.”

Mark Hayes’ singable melody, in a flowing ¾ meter, makes this an easy song to learn and one that will create a loving bond between singer and listener. This is perfect for peace and unity emphases or as a general anthem.
