Think “O Holy Night” meets a black gospel church service, and you’re on the right track! This soulful arrangement features a rhythmic and authentic-sounding gospel piano part, “hip” brass and sax licks, and full rhythm section. Vocal parts are moderate to difficult with some divisi, and feature call-and-answer devices between the men’s and women’s parts. There are two endings: the first being “the big finish” and the second optional one, featuring a soulful, quieter coda which builds in a quasi-improvisatory style to a satisfying conclusion.
