Hayes has done it again, producing an exciting new arrangement of a time-honored hymn! This time, he has written “We’re Marching to Zion” in a spirited gospel setting, opening with original material that features a great solo part in a call-response format with the choir. Next come the first three verses, the familiar tune enlivened with syncopation and a gospel rock feel; the fourth verse modulates upward and features the soloist once again with the choir. The piece then builds to a recap of the original section with the soloist singing freely and fervently. Despite the highly rhythmic nature of the arrangement, there is much unison and straightforward 4-part writing which makes this fairly easy and very fun to learn. The rocking piano accompaniment requires a pianist with skill in rhythm, and the instrumental parts, either on CD or live, will electrify your performance. Your congregation will not be able to sit still, and you can count on their clapping with the beat! This arrangement will energize any service, and is especially appropriate for those services emphasizing the promise of eternity with God for those who trust in Him. Also available in SAB voicing.
